Welcome to TeachableMinds!

Is your child needing support with math? If so, you’ve come to the right place!
Have you heard of Summer Slide?
What is summer slide?
In education, we often see the kids regress over summer break- so much so, we have a term for it: “Summer Slide.” Strong math skills, just like any other skill, require consistent practice. Over summer break, we typically see the amount of math kids are exposed to is greatly reduced. This often leads to regression in math skills come fall- sometimes over 20%.
Why is summer slide a problem?
Summer Slide causes difficulties when the school year begins because schools expect the kids to enter the classroom with the knowledge and skills they left with in May. These gaps lead to further misconceptions as math tends to build upon prior skills. For example, if a child does not have a strong understanding of addition and subtraction, the child will struggle with higher level skills such as multi-step story problems, multiplication, division, decimals, and more.
At TeachableMinds Tutoring, we can work together to set your child up for success and avoid summer slide by reviewing essential skills. Reach out for more info or click below to schedule a session!
I’m looking forward to working with you to help your child develop his/her math skills!
